About Me

Hello! My name is Sarah and this is my blog chronicling my travels over the years. I grew up in the gorgeous state of Oregon! I am blessed to have 4 parents, 3 siblings, and an amazing extended family whom I love dearly.

I grew up blazing through trails deep in the forest, climbing ridges and mountaintops, jumping in lakes and rivers, which developed my wild side and love for the outdoors!

I love Jesus and this love has taken me places I never imagined I would go or see. International healthcare and missions is a deep passion of mine. I believe strongly in living my faith out in ACTION! I started blogging in 2007 when I flew across the world to Tchad in Central Africa to work in a remote bush hospital (Bere Adventist Hospital). I was 19 yrs old and spent a year there facing challenges that still shake me in my Chacos when I think about it now (I don't wear boots).

Since that year, I've traveled to Nicaragua, Haiti, Nigeria, and more, continuing to learn and serve through medical missions.

Currently I'm in the Philippines for two+ years to serve and learn to be a midwife! This path has come about from so many different influences, but my first real passion for serving women during childbirth came during my time in Africa. You can read *here* my post on delivering a baby out in the village and the complications I faced that are very common in many parts of the world. I felt so inadequate in that moment. Women's and children's health globally has become more and more of a focus for me as I see the need mirrored in all the countries I've been.

Midwifery is not the easiest path to take....many sleepless nights, emergencies, responsibility....but it's where God is leading me and I'm excited to see where He takes me!

I'm currently located on the island of Mindanao in Davao City, with the ocean nearby, Mt. Apo towering over us, and lots of durian!
