"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children, to earn the approbation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty; to give of one's self, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived--that is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sarah is very sick: Pray
Please pray for Sarah. She has an unknown sickness or disease which is causing a lot of abdominal pain. Pray for her doctors (Greg & Audrey Shank from Koza Adventist Hospital) that they will have the wisdom from God to cure her. Your prayers and notes of encouragement mean a lot to Sarah. She will receive your comments posted here by automatic email (almost daily now).

I hope that Sarah can stay in Tchad and that her exam thing will go well.
ReplyDeletePraise God for his healing hand. Our prayers were answered today when Sarah went into the OR for surgery. Her blood test this morning indicated she has Typhoid Fever, but her abdominal pain and ultrasound test landed her in surgery to find another problem. It was an appendicitis and the doctors removed the appendix that had not ruptured (praise God).
ReplyDeleteSarah still needs to make it through recovery in a 3rd world country and fight off the Typhoid Fever with antibiotics, so please continue to pray daily. Dr Appel flew back from Cameroon to have the plane ready to evacuate her to Europe if needed. Thanks to all at the Bere Adventist Hospital for their support of Sarah. Thanks also for Dr Shank from Cameroon.
Love,
Dad
We're praying for you out here in Pohnpei.

ReplyDeleteHang in there Sarah! Truly God works in mysterious ways and He works all things for good since the doctors were able to find your appendicitis. I'll pass the word on to Jason, Jonathan, etc. to pray for you and I will be as well. May our Lord and Savior be also your Healer and Comforter.

Sarah, you're amazing! You're giving your precious energy in a place where it is most needed. I'm soooooo proud of you and I'm confident that "All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose." I'm thankful that they figured out what's wrong. I hope you won't be dismayed by not being able to be the one doing something, because God can use even your illness for his glory!

Hey Sarah! WOAH, what a scary week. I didn't know you were in Africa before this. Been reading through your blog, you've been doing some AMAZING things! I'll be sure to ask the Big Fella to send you a speedy recovery so you can get out there and continue his work. ;) You're a champion. Gav.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I know you're really into experiencing all that Africa has to offer, but I think maybe you've gone a little too far! I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well and pray that you recover quickly. We're thinking of you every day.
ReplyDeleteLove Rita and Mike
Hey Sarah,
ReplyDeleteWe love you so much! The group here at PUC has been praying for you and growling about those horrid conditions over there :P I've been trying to find a place that will let me donate supplies specifically to you guys...but all I've been able to find is ADRA and there's aren't very specific. Do you know of a way we could help? Try to stay healthy from here on out...I'm praying for God to send a health angel ;) Life here is mega-hectic...but nothing like 17hr night shifts. Still, at least you're allowed to sleep. Take care of yourself girl! Oh...and did you hear what Stuart said to my sis?...you should ask her...:)
Launa
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me as to what an amazing gift God has given you. God has made you truly brave. As I'm writing this, know that a heartfelt prayer is being said, that God will protect you and show you healing not only of body, but also of spirit. I pray that God will hold you tight and comfort you as He lays the way for a speedy recovery.
Much love,
Britt
